Safe and Sound in Penitas

We arrived in Penitas at 6 p.m. and after checking in at the hotel we went to hear Omar preach. After the service we were able to set up and decorate for VBS while the construction crew went to view the site they would be working at this week. So far we have had no problems and everything has gone smoothly. Keep us in your prayers as the first day will be hectic as we create a plan to accomodate the children that show up. We are expecting about 150 children.

Weimar, Germany-March 17

Email from Birgit

God made a very warm welcome for the group here in Germany and send sun for the first days.
That seems to be over now. We got strong rain and heavy fog the whole day today. Well, now the group experiences the REAL Germany. Still, it was a very fun day. It was good for the group to be by themselves for a day and we did all the sightseeing we could.

Started at the school at 8 a.m., went to the Concentration Camp Buchenwlad the whole morning.
Lunch at German McDonald's (a little bit of home...) and saw the Wartburg.

Wet, cold feet-other then that everything is fine. Tonight everybody will have a night off with the second host family. We are all so very excited how the Youth Service and the show will go Friday and Saturday night. Please pray!

One week is extremely short! We'll miss your kids!

Weimar, Germany-March 16

Email from Birgit

Everything is working perfect. Yesterday's school day was very busy, today was a little more calmer. The school kids love your kids and they are having so much influence. It's amazing how much energy your team has. They are great.

Cailey is looking better day by day. Kayla has problems with her voice. Got she medicine. We hope that she'll be fine tomorrow.

Everybody switched to school host homes on Tuesday and everything is going well.
We got the last afternoon for practice together today and last fun night. Looking forward and praying for Friday Youth Service and Saturday Program.

Please God speak to them!

School works wonderful! Your guys are doing great. Mostly they teach 6 periods in a row. That is a lot, but they are great.
Today Caliey and Kelly are with us. Cailey is still kind of weak, but she keeps up. Students are excited. Hopefully some will show up in chruch! Please pray! We are looking forward to tonight!

Germany Trip Monday, March 14

This is an email that came from Birgit the Youth Minister at Weimar Baptist Church.

The morining in the school was a big success. Since Kelly and Cailey were unable to be at the school the team had to re-orgainize alltheir stuff in 10 minutes. Meg took over a group, because they are in 3 classes at once. She and her team and the other 2 teams did a wonderful. They made it all 6 periods and students loved them! they got many names, invited people and are the number one topic at the school.

Than we had lunch and hnag out downtown-already studdents from school are keen to join the group whenever possible.
We met in the afternoon and try to put up something like a stomp-project . That was fun! also, you see that Cailey was around again. Stil weak, but trying! 5 new people showed up and 3 we haven't seen for a year in church. Altogether we've been 25 plus 11 Americans. Good thing and it is only Monday.
We had food togethe, hang out, and played a lot of table tennis. I admire your kids for all their energy and willingness toserve. They diddn't give up; even though they have had 12 hour working day behind them!! Great kids.
I saw Kayla at the dishwaher and she is as kind and helping as her mom!!

Brazil Day 5

We had a wonderful rainy day today. At least it wasn't as hot as yesterday. We have been so amazed by the stories that Ana (the woman who owns the property where the church meets and where the VBS has been held) has told. What incredible faith she has shown us! I read in some notes from one of Greg's sermons that "complaining is taking God's promises in vain." Ana does not complain, but seems to live in the most incredible faith. With the obstacles that she has and does overcome daily, she is absolutely amazing! Pray for us tomorrow as Charlotte shares the plan of salvation with the moms.
